Check Your Plumbing For Hard Water

If you have not had to deal with hard water in your home before that is quite fortunate. It is more of a problem in some areas than others though if you have experienced this at all it can become quite a frustrating plumbing problem for several reasons.

When you find an unusually high mineral count in your tap water it is known as hard water. Depending on where you live, different geographical features such as layers of limestone have groundwater that bubbles up through them and picks up small traces of this mineral which makes its way into the local water supply.

This can make tap water less useful for washing and not as enjoyable to drink from the tap. It can also cause damage to your home plumbing, however, if you follow these tips you can know the signs and do something about it.

You will notice that hard water causes it to be difficult to remove laundry detergent from clothing during the rinse cycle. It can also dull the bright colors of clothing before it would otherwise. Clothing washed with hard water can also feel stiff and scratchy compared to washing with softer water.

Hard water is often the cause of dry or itchy skin because the soapy film residue that is left behind after showering causes skin problems. It can also make it a challenge to work up a soapy lather in the shower as well as rinse it away.

You will notice that hard water creates spots on your dishes because it is harder to rinse the detergent and soap away. And it can be a challenge whether you are using a dishwasher or washing the dishes by hand. The hard water will be noticeable after a dishwasher rinse cycle and you will notice spots or streaks when soap is left behind after a manual wash due to the soap that is left behind on the dishes.

Hard water allows soap to stick to your dishes easier but it will also stick to your shower curtain, bathtub, and tiles easier. This will naturally occur if you have soft water as well but it is quite a lot noticeably faster when hard water is an issue.

It can be said that trace amounts of the some of the minerals found in hard water can be healthy but at the same time it can cause your tap water to taste sour, metallic, or sulfuric. The mineral deposits in hard water build up and cause damage to every type of appliance it touches such as your washing machine, dishwasher, ice maker, and hot water heater.

Our Plumbing Services

Some past clients we’ve had the opportunity to work for:

There are several plumbers out there. Many have experience. So why choose us over everyone else? Here are a few reasons:

check  No Hourly Charges – Many customers do not see the advantages of having a plumber who does not work by the hour. A plumber who works on a fixed price has no reason to stick around after the job is finished to ensure he gets paid more. Even if the job takes more time than required, you still pay the same amount.

check  Upfront, Exact Pricing – Every job we do has a set price shown in our price book. We go through with you exactly what the scope of the work will be to fix your problem and the costs involved. You know before we start what the final price will be -no surprises!

check  Rapid Response Times – Our highly efficient dispatch team will make sure our local plumbers are at your location as soon as possible. Under regular conditions, our plumbing technicians will arrive at your location within 24-hours. Service calls can take longer than expected and specialty parts may need to be ordered, which may push the wait times longer so we communicate ongoing.

check  Priority Calls – Emergency calls are our highest priority. We know they can quickly become a serious situation. You can place a priority call to ensure you are the next customer to be serviced. The technician will be at your location within 24 hours. All priority calls require a credit card upon calling.

check  Local Plumbers – There is no sense in calling a plumbing service that is in another city. We have plumbers in all major city centers across the GTA that can respond to your emergency when you need it.

check  Fully Loaded Work Trucks – A fully inventoried truck is crucial so that your problem can not only be diagnosed quickly, but fixed quickly as well. Even if the job requires a specialty part, we can have it ordered within 24 hours.
