Weak Foundation or Cracks in The Walls
A home’s foundation is surrounded by soil yet there is a hydrostatic pressure which builds up in it from the moisture which is strong enough over time to cause cracks and damage to the walls and floors. As water works its way through these cracks it causes damage to the foundation of your house and eventually leads to basement flooding. Most basements can be found below ground level and the hydrostatic pressure pressing against the foundation’s walls are a main cause of flooding and the need for our basement waterproofing Ajax. Give us a call twenty-four hours a day for expert, local interior and exterior Ajax basement waterproofing service you can count on.
Plugged Weeping Tiles
Having a backwater valve installed in your home plumbing system is critical for preventing sewage wastewater from backing up and entering through your kitchen, bathroom, or basement drains. As the weeping tiles which are responsible for making sure water exits properly become plugged they can cause water to return back into your home’s plumbing system causing a flood. It usually becomes blocked with soil or tree roots and won’t allow water to drain fast enough from the property. It causes pressure that also leads to leaks and cracks in the foundation. You can rely on our local plumbers to thoroughly inspect your plumbing network and weeping tiles so your home is kept safe and dry.
Leaky Windows and Blocked Drainage Tiles in Window Wells
Another important aspect of your home to consider when it comes to preventing water damage are your windows. If they are leaking this rainwater or melting snow can seep through the cracks in the windows and do serious damage to your furniture, walls, and ceilings. Have no doubt that you are making a good call to our local plumbing professionals to help weather proof your home and basement. Our basement waterproofing Ajax service in addition to applying weather stripping to your windows, basement openings, and doorways, having your sump pump maintained, and a backwater valve installed are certain ways to keep your home safe from flooding and water damage.
The mold that grows wherever there is moisture present is usually harmful to health. While there are some types that are harmless there are others that can seriously aggravate existing health issues and cause illness to whoever comes in contact with it. The common type of mold that can be harmful is called Stachybotrys chartarum and can create serious illness. If you have our basement waterproofing Ajax there will never be any worries that your home is going to be compromised. With our interior and exterior waterproofing service in addition to our other water damage prevention services, there will be no reason to worry about mold damage, water damage, or basement flooding.
Ajax Basement Waterproofing. The best way to prevent mold from entering your basement is to prevent moisture from getting in is with basement waterproofing Ajax. Here is how we prevent moisture from entering your basement.
1. Every exterior basement waterproofing job starts with first excavating down to the footing of the basement. The depth will obviously range but we typically excavate out 2-2.5 feet from the wall.
2. We dig out the old weeping tile and replace it with new 4″ weeping tile with filter cloth.
3. Next step is to clean the foundation walls searching for cracks, voids, and any other defects, chisel them out and fill with hydraulic cement which expands to completely fill the void.
4. From the grading down to the footing, we apply a rubbery membrane which is the most critical component in preventing water from breaching your foundation walls.
5. On top of that layer, we apply a dimpled drainage board which will be up against the soil. The dimples create little air gaps so that any water that gets through, drains directly down into the weeping tile.
6. Now that the waterproofing membrane is installed, we install a layer of 3/4″ gravel on top of the weeping tile and then do a water test to ensure the drainage is working properly.
7. We then backfill the excavated hole we made with the same soil we took out, compact it with a tamper to the original level, and clean up the area so it looks like we were never there!
